A Story of Food
For Ernest Capocci, family and food are inseparable. He may have travelled far and wide in his quest to create the perfect gelato, but his greatest inspiration was always his father, Vincent.
He was the original ‘man in the white hat’; a pillar of Airdrie’s Italian community, who started the family ice cream business from a tiny backstreet shop way back in the 1930s and, by 1948, had opened a factory.
When Ernest joined the business, he coined The Capocci Man name and ran a fleet of over 50 ice cream vans with his father. He even visited the University of Maryland in the 1960s, learning American techniques of ice cream production and bringing them back to Scotland.
For Ernest, the greatest ice cream will always be Italian
Sourcing only the finest ingredients to both excite and delight customers. It’s an approach that inspired Capocci’s. Lovingly prepared dishes, passed down through the generations, every one a celebration of the authentic Italy.
